About Timber
Castagneto.jpg
Trees From Tuscany
Our majority woods are Red Oaks
and Chestnuts.
These trees grow in the Tuscany area in Italy.
Tronchi.jpg
The trunks will lay on ground for
two years to dry very slow.
Lumber

Milling Process
Pieces of lumber are cut lengthwise from the trunks of trees and are characterized by having generally rectangular or square cross sections.
Steaming Process
Green lumber is quickly moved to steamers and protected from drying out at all.
Once steamed, the lumber is lowered to a safe handling temperature.
It takes about 14-18 days to dry the wood to 7% (+/-1%) moisture content.

Lumber Storage
In order to keep our lumber dry and well ventilated, we store all of our lumber under open air storage buildings.
Storing our lumber this way greatly minimizes warpage and splits.
